our
story

THERE'S ALWAYS A
BETTER WAY

Metal Pless didn't begin with advanced technology. It began with curiosity, determination, and the belief that there was always a better way. For nearly 50 years, that mindset has shaped every innovation, every improvement, and every product we build for the people who fight winter every day.

1976 The Idea That Started It All

Metal Pless began in Plessisville, Québec, with limited resources, practical ingenuity, and a belief that there was always a better way. Long before advanced engineering software, Luc Vigneault tested ideas using cardboard models, pivot points, and hydraulic cylinders—adjusting each design until it worked the way he envisioned. That curiosity and determination became the foundation of Metal Pless.

1990 Innovation Through Experience

During the 1990s, Metal Pless built a wide range of equipment, including agricultural products, log splitters, cross-country ski equipment, and snowplows. Each product brought new manufacturing experience and new lessons in practical design. Snowplows gradually became a larger part of the business, and the knowledge gained through those early years helped shape the company Metal Pless

2004 Redefining Productivity

The development of hydraulic wing snowplows gave operators greater control over how snow was carried, contained, and placed. By allowing the wings to adjust from inside the cab, one plow could respond to different applications and changing site conditions. It marked an important step in the evolution toward more versatile equipment designed to help operators complete more work with fewer passes.

2008 Finding Our Focus

In 2008, Metal Pless made one of the most important decisions in its history: to focus exclusively on snowplows. Rather than continuing to manufacture a variety of products, the company committed its resources, engineering expertise, and passion to solving one challenge exceptionally well. That decision sharpened our purpose, strengthened our innovation, and laid the foundation for the growth that followed.

2013 Changing the Way Snow Is Cleared

LiveEdge technology introduced a new approach to following uneven road surfaces. Instead of relying on one rigid cutting edge, independently moving sections adapt to surface variations, helping maintain more consistent contact with the pavement. The result is a cleaner scrape, reduced hard pack, and fewer repeat passes. LiveEdge became one of Metal Pless’s most recognized innovations and continues to evolve through field experience and operator feedback.

2015-2020 Growing Without Losing Our Identity

As Metal Pless expanded its product range, manufacturing capabilities, markets, and dealer network, the company remained a family business at heart. Growth brought new people, new resources, and opportunities to serve snowfighters across Canada, the United States, and Europe—but the values behind the company remained grounded in personal relationships, practical work, and pride in building better products together.

2026 The Next 50 Years Begin

Fifty years after Metal Pless began, the same belief continues to move the company forward: there is always a better way. Today, teams in design, engineering, drafting, research and development, and manufacturing continue improving both products and processes. The tools have changed, but the mindset has not—learn from experience, move forward together, and keep building on the vision passed from one generation to the next

The people
behind the steel

Every Metal Pless snowplow reflects the people behind it—from engineering and manufacturing to sales, service, and administration. Together, they share one commitment: designing, building, and supporting equipment that customers can depend on season after season.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

SHAPED BY WINTER

There are easier places to build a factory. We chose to build ours where winter demands better equipment—because the toughest conditions create the best ideas.

Plessisville. The town that made the plow.

Metal Pless was founded in Plessisville in 1976 with one simple belief: there was always a better way to clear snow. The winters here didn't just shape our products—they shaped the way we think. Every season brought new challenges, new ideas, and new opportunities to improve.

From the beginning, our engineering, manufacturing, and customer support teams have worked closely together to solve real-world challenges. Ideas move quickly from development to production and into the field, where customer feedback continues to shape every generation of Metal Pless equipment.

Today, customers across North America rely on equipment built with the same mindset that started nearly 50 years ago: listen, improve, test, and never stop looking for a better way.

OUR PRINCIPLES

WHAT HAS GUIDED US FOR
50 YEARS

Metal Pless wasn't built around a business plan. It was built around a way of thinking. These principles continue to guide how we design, build, and support every product that carries the Metal Pless name.

01 Never Stop Improving

Every winter teaches us something. Every season brings new ideas. We believe the best products are never finished—they continue to evolve through experience, customer feedback, and a commitment to doing things better than yesterday.

02 Built for the Real World

Our equipment is designed for the people who depend on it every day. From material selection to manufacturing, every decision is made with real working conditions, real operators, and real winters in mind.

03 People Come First

Behind every innovation is a person using our equipment. Whether it's improving visibility, reducing fatigue, simplifying operation, or making maintenance easier, we never lose sight of who we're building for.

04 Leave It Better Than We Found It

Better snow removal isn't just about moving more snow. It's about reducing unnecessary passes, minimizing salt usage, improving efficiency, and helping customers achieve better results with less environmental impact.

SERVING SNOWFIGHTERS

ONE PHILOSOPHY. FOUR CONTINENTS.

What began as a better way to clear snow has grown into partnerships with contractors, municipalities, airports, dealers, and distributors around the world. While every market is different, the commitment to building dependable snow removal equipment remains the same.

Canada

North America

Canada is where Metal Pless began and where many of our ideas were first proven in the field. The challenges of Canadian winters continue to shape the products and technologies trusted by customers around the world.
